Pick a theme in a few keystrokes

Shady Notes has sixteen themes, eleven dark and five light, and ⌘⌥T switches between them with a live preview.

Shady Notes comes with sixteen themes: eleven dark and five light. They include Dracula, Nord, Gruvbox, Tokyo Night, Rosé Pine, Solarized and four Catppuccin flavours. You can switch between them without opening a settings window.

Open the quick picker

Press ⌘⌥T. A list of themes appears. Hover over a theme and the shade previews it straight away, so you can compare a few before you choose. Pick one to keep it.

Choosing one

A few things to try:

  • Match your editor. If you use Nord, Dracula or a Catppuccin flavour in your code editor, use the same one here and the shade feels like part of the same desk.
  • Light for daytime. Solarized Light, Catppuccin Latte and Gruvbox Light are easier to read in a bright room.
  • Dark for evenings. Tokyo Night and Rosé Pine are low-contrast and quiet.

Which themes are free

The Free tier includes three themes: Dark, Light and Nord. Every other theme is part of the Personal and Supporter plans. During the 14-day trial on first launch, all sixteen are unlocked, so you can try them all before deciding. Plans and prices are on the pricing page.

Press ⌘⌥T and see which one you keep. New to Shady Notes? Download it here.
