The Navigator can keep several notes open at once as tabs. Open a note in a new tab, and a tab strip appears above the preview, with a close button on each tab. This arrived in v4.0.21.
Open a note in a new tab
- ⌥-click a note to open it in a new tab.
- Or right-click the note and open it in a new tab from the menu.
- From the keyboard, press ⌃⌥→ to open the selected note in a new tab.
A plain click still opens the note in the current tab, so nothing changes until you ask for a new one.
Move between tabs and close them
- ⌃⇥ cycles through your open tabs.
- ⌃⌥W closes the current tab.
- Or click the close button on the tab itself.
Narrow the list with workspace filters
If your vault has several workspaces, ⌥Tab steps through the filters: All, then Root, then each workspace in turn, and back to All. ⇧⌥Tab goes the other way. It is a quick way to find a note in one project without the rest of the vault in the list.
Try it
Pick two notes you often switch between, such as a meeting note and the project it belongs to, and open both as tabs. Then use ⌃⇥ to flip between them.
